Concrete NZ - Masonry Sector Group
About the GroupThe Masonry Sector Group addresses issues of short and long-term importance to the concrete masonry industry. Its objectives include maintaining a commitment by its members to comply with:
The Group promotes the architectural and engineering uses of concrete masonry, providing representation to public and private sectors, as well as developing and supporting the competence of the masonry trade.
New Zealand Concrete Masonry ManualConcrete masonry is a staple material of the construction industry; a silent workhorse that encompasses reinforced concrete block and concrete block veneer, along with concrete block paving and flagstone paving for pedestrian walkways. Concrete masonry offers structural and architectural advantages in a single material and is recognised as a major contributor to a sustainable built environment. The New Zealand Concrete Masonry Manual, which was created in the late 1970s as a guide to the design and construction of concrete masonry, has been updated and is available in sections for free download as required.
SuDS ResourcesWith interest in Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS) applications, the NZ Concrete Masonry Association (NZCMA) and Concrete NZ recently held seminars that brought together UK, Canadian and local expertise. The seminars covered the disciplines of landscape architecture, urban and environmental planning and the engineering design and construction of the drainage system. SuDS resources target Landscape Architects, Architects, Urban Planners, Engineers involved with stormwater systems, and Paving Contractors.
