COVID-19 Update - Safe Return to Work Under Alert Level 3
Monday, 20 April 2020
The Government has announced the date New Zealand moves from COVID-19 Alert Level 4 to Level 3 - Tuesday 28 April - the day after the ANZAC Day observed holiday.
At Alert Level 3, construction sites can reopen, subject to observing the Standard and protocols that were released last week by Construction Health and Safety New Zealand (CHASNZ).
The Standard and protocols provide the construction sector with a framework to restart safely and quickly.
New Zealand will stay at COVID-19 Alert Level 3 for two weeks, after which a further review will be made on 11 May.
In preparation for opening construction sites on Tuesday 28 April, all companies will need to develop site and business plans that adhere to the Standard and protocols.
Supplementary Concrete NZ guidance specifically for the concrete industry was released last week:
Ensuring a safe and seamless restart for construction will be beneficial to the New Zealand economy.
To make sure that the progress achieved over the past month isn't undermined, our industry's actions must demonstrate transparency and thoroughness.
